Oil Spill Response
The escape of even small amounts of oil can pose a serious risk to human health and property, and can result in severe pollution of nearby streams and the underlying groundwater. Once in the groundwater oil can steadily migrate towards rivers and any nearby water supply boreholes or wells. Clean up costs can be high, and the Environment Agency may prosecute under certain circumstances.
